I've been reading fanfiction since the late 90s when I discovered the Ranma 1/2 Fanfiction Email List and a series of Rurouni Kenshin Geocities Web Rings. I love many fandoms and struggle to keep my stories short. I just have too many epic ideas! I love writing romance, hurt/comfort, found family, genderbending/rule 63, drama, angst, and HEAs with weddings. You can find all of my stories on https://www.fanfiction.net/~indygodusk and http://archiveofourown.org/users/Indygodusk Outside of fandom, I work as a cake artist and mother and have a Masters in Biology.

A Stack of Toast – 6 – Indygodusk

Skidding around a corner, Hermione raced for the outside doors closest to her office. She slammed them open and almost bowled over a group of students about to come inside. “Get help, Great Lake!” she cried, shoving past them and sprinting for the lakeshore where she’d seen Adonis Lestrange pulled into the water by a scaly hand attached to an ugly, monkey-like face. She could hear him fighting for his life, trying to cast spells…

Not For Me – 3 [COMPLETE] – Indygodusk

Since she didn’t even know where to start in tackling the implications of that kiss, Carolyn decided to focus instead on Riddick’s initial words. Could she really be so blind? Who was Johns really?  Shutting down the shuttle, she got Johns’s direction from Suleiman and Hassan, who were playing some mysterious game involving rocks and bones.  Carolyn entered the building to see Johns inserting a needle into the corner of his eye. Depressing the syringe,…

Not For Me – 2 – Indygodusk

Meeting together to discuss supplies and the repair of the shuttle, plans which now included Riddick walking free among them in return for his promise to not hurt anyone and help them get away from this planet, Carolyn made sure everyone had their duties and dismissed the meeting. She wasn’t the only one anxious to get out of this place because everyone quickly scattered until only Shazza and Riddick remained. When Carolyn looked over…

They say that during cryo-sleep, everything shuts down between one blink and the next, everything but the most primitive, animal side of your thoughts. That stays awake and wary. Carolyn Fry didn’t know if that was true for Mundanes, but it certainly seemed to be true for Sentinels and Guides, throwbacks from a distant time in human history when people lived in small groups and biology and trauma combined to bring Online Sentinel protectors with…

Harry threw a handful of Floo powder into the hearth and cleared his throat to make sure his voice didn’t crack. When the flames turned green, he spoke clearly, hoping he didn’t leave anything out, “Europe, Great Britain, Scotland, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, DADA Professor Hermione Granger’s office.” The flames crackled, froze, and jerked, trying to forge a connection over the long distance from Japan to Britain. Considering how Harry had sacrificed his…

A Stack of Toast – 4 – Indygodusk

Straightening her clothing nervously, Hermione pressed against the letter in the inner breast pocket of her robes, wafting up the faint scent of parchment and Harry. Tipping her head down she breathed deeply, taking courage before marching up to the front doors of Hogwarts. The multitude of soaring turrets and random spires were so familiar that she couldn’t help but feel a surge of rightness at returning to her first magical home.  Before she…

A Stack of Toast – 3 – Indygodusk

If Hermione felt tetchy and out of sorts in the weeks since Harry left Britain, well, it was only to be expected. Routine was important to Hermione and nothing had been routine since Harry left. Not seeing and talking to him every day was just the tip of the iceberg. She couldn’t sleep through the night anymore, haunted by nightmares, sometimes of failing tests or letting down people, other times of searching for something that…

-8 years later- Trying not to think about how this might be her last chance for the foreseeable future, Hermione Floo called Harry and stuck her face into the hearth fire. Since she had full access to his apartment, his security protocols didn’t make her wait for him to accept the call, instead sending her head straight through. She didn’t see Harry in the tidy living room full of plush furniture or hear him…

Hermione woke up paralyzed.  Panicking, her mind raced even as her body and magic heaved and fought to be free. Nothing worked. She couldn’t so much as twitch. In fact, she wasn’t even breathing.  She would’ve expected not breathing to hurt, but it didn’t. She would’ve expected paralysis to mean being numb, but she wasn’t that either. In fact, she was feeling more sensation than she’d ever experienced in her entire life. That freaked…
