Please read the site comment policy regarding feedback during the challenge. Rough Trade is a pro author site, and the challenge itself is written on the fly over the course of the month with little to no editing.
If your comment disappears immediately it has been flagged by automoderation and if it’s never posted that means it was deemed a violation of the site rules. Duplicating your comments repeatedly creates a significant moderation burden. So stop that.
My goal as the administrator of Rough Trade is to provide a safe environment for the participating writers. That means readers are not allowed to intrude on the author’s creative process with their own wishes, opinions, or concerns regarding a story.
While it is not my intention to be hurtful, let me be clear: your personal issues are your own. You do not have the right to trauma dump all over an author on RT because a plot element or trope upsets you.
If you believe a story has violated the site’s content rules, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly through the Communication Center.
Additionally, disallowing communication through the site’s direct message system means that staff won’t contact you at all with problems; they will delete your comments wholesale without discussion. I will not add to the already considerable workload of the moderation staff by asking them to email you directly.

indeed you do, and ’tis fair, lady. no worries, I agree with this policy, and am trying not to stir up the mods or the bot. took me a while to figure out the disappearing comments, but I have now. *doffs his hat* thy tyranny is not at all unwelcome, here in this rarest of writers’ treasures.
besides, I’m discovering this time how much fun it is to read all the things as they go, where normally I won’t let myself cos I’ll do nowt else and not get writing done, lol.
Bad enough that a rule of common decency towards authors that work so hard has to be repeated. Persecute away, dear Tyranical Ruler!
I am appalled but not surprised that such a policy needed to be posted. I always try to give only support as each author shares their story. I’m not a beta reader so constructive criticism is not required of me. If I don’t like something, I just don’t read it. But then, I learned do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I have to say, your comment policy has informed ALL of my comments on ALL fics, whether here or elsewhere. It was great life advice. <3
Persecute away! I enjoy reading the posted works here and wish all the authors well. I don’t post much in comments because all I can say to anyone who has the courage to put their writing out there is “well done! I applaud the courage it takes to post!” Thanks for protecting the writers Keira.
Hey, your tyranny is why I am here. I’m tired of comments making me hate my story and myself.
