Sentinel dormancy/latency: fanon or canon

I know there will be a Sentinel challenge at some point and I've got an idea. However, I'm not sure if it'll work. Is the dormant and latent issue for Sentinels and Guides a fanon concept, or canon? I tried googling but it came up with fanfics, which cool, but not helpful. I thought you all might know. I'm just trying to figure out how much wiggle room I have to alter things, but I wasn't looking to mess with canon.

My first thought was, "oh honey."

First, exactly one person calls Blair a Guide in Sentinel canon.

So Guides and all the lore surrounding this is pure fanon. Blair didn't have any sort of supernatural empathy on the show beyond his general awesomeness.

There is one other Sentinel in the show and she's a crazy as a bag of cats.

Dormant, latent, etc -- that's all fanon.
