Then a Wish Baby shows up and decides they belong together.

Chapter 3

Scott left his office, he heard noises of laugh as he walked by, mutants training, life goes on as kept walking.

“Scott,” the voice stopped him in his place, he recognize the voice, as he said, “Hank, is there something wrong?”

“No, just the professor changed the room, instead of the evaluation room, he wanted you to be in the Danger Room.”

Scott frowned, he never stepped in the Danger Room since Jean died, the memory of them fought together, side by side in that room, brought sadness, as he could feel a tear slipped down his eyes as he wiped it quickly.

“You okay?” Hank asked with concern at his friend.

“I’m fine.” Scott said with a crack voice, adjusting his eyeglasses.

Hank didn’t buy it, but didn’t want to pressure Scott about it.

“Let me walk with you, the path to the Danger Room changed, we did some changes due to recent events.” Hank said, watched as his friend gave him his hand for leading him safely toward the evaluation.

Scott could hear the students talking about him, but he tried to ignore them, even though it hurts him of what the students thought about him, maybe he lost his touch after Jean died.

Guide Summers is going to evaluate Sentinel Logan.

Is that the one that caused his Sentinel to die?

Scott swallowed the lump down his throat, relieved that all he was doing just to evaluate Logan.

“Here we are,” Hank said, “you can do it, Scott.”

Scott could feel that Hank is giving him something, “Here’s your radio, and I’m checking your vitals, and when the Sentinel is arrive, he will be ready for it.”

Scott nodded, adjusting the communicate radio on his belt, not knowing what is waiting for him inside, he knew that the students and Charles are watching him in every move and decision that he will do.

Either way, he is going to be judged, and he knew that if something will happen, they will blame him, as he felt they were when Jean died, the blame he was carried since Jean died.

Scott exhaled before he entered the room.

“Is there a reason why I’ve been called here?” the Sentinel’s voice echoes the soon as he saw the blind guide walking inside.

“Evaluation, I asked my senior Guide to come here to evaluate you.” Charles said.

“I don’t need evaluation, especially not from a blind Guide, Summers, isn’t it?” Logan asked with a mock in his voice.

“Aren’t you the one that killed his Sentinel?” Logan questioned, he could see the pain in the Guide face, and knew that he hits his mark about it.

Scott chose to ignore him, no need to provoke right away as probably the professor is watching him, and the Danger Room is his office for the evaluation.

“How’s the professor thinks that you can save yourself when battle started? You are blind, and without any mutant power, you basically a weak human, I guess that the professor asked you to come back as he probably pitied you,” Logan continued to insult Scott, hope to get a reply from the blind Guide, as he continued, “you should be the one who died, not your Sentinel, Jean, no wonder why the other Sentinels are not pairing with you.”

There was an awkward silence, and Scott hoped that at least the professor will tell through the mic that Logan is wrong, but there was a dead silence, and that added another hurt into Scott Summers, he took the pain to his heart.

“I’m Scott Summers, I’ll be taking notes of your evaluation, either you want it or not, it’s not like we both had a choice in that matter, Logan.” Scott said, as he tried to compose himself, he could tell by the sound of Logan’s voice how the Sentinel have hatred toward him, and he tried to hide the hurt with a stoic mask, hidden under the shade eyeglasses.

“You’ve got that right, bud.” Logan said.

“I’m not your bud, I’m your evaluation senior Guide.” Scott told him with a firm voice.

Scott could feel the ground vibrate under him, he already got the vibe that the professor started the evaluation, too see how he could handle Logan.

“Mission one,” the voice came from their radio, “there has been an explosion in the school, four children are missing, and there is several injured X-Men.”

“Logan, I need you to be my eyes and tell me what do you see, and who are you going to save first?” Scott asked calmly, using his cane to move slowly.

The sentinel looked back toward the guide, and simply for what he saw, and then he moved quickly, first saying the location, saving child number 1 who been trapped beneath the rubble.

Scott noticed that Logan stop mentioned the location as he only kept saying through the radio that he saved all the children, and now going to save his injured X-Men teammates.

Scott only nodded, so far the evaluation proved the same notes he had by reading about Sentinel Logan.

Charles observed them as they worked together, decided that after the first mission, maybe a break will help while he is going to test them.

“Return to the Danger Room in fifteen minutes, the coffee table is on the left side as you leave the Danger Room, Scott.” Hank said through their radios.

Scott nodded, he could feel the whoosh from the door, and then the sounds of the students laughing in the background, he figured that maybe someone was opening the door, as he could feel Logan’s hand on his arm.

Scott shook him arm away from Logan as he moved his cane forward, and counting steps until he could feel the table, he folded the cane and puts it in his jacket’s pocket, and then he moved his hand to touch, he found the paper cup.

Logan looked at Scott with respect, as the guide seemed handling it more than he expected.

“On your left there’s a sugar, and on the right the coffee, but it seemed we now have several types of coffee here.” Logan said surprisingly, noticed that Scott turned his face toward his voice.

“What are the types?” Scott questioned.

Scott could hear noises, and asked, “What is this sound?”

“I believe we now have a coffee machine, do you want anything?” Logan asked.

“Sure, whatever is the stronger option.” Scott replied and then after putting some sugar in the cup, he held the cup, waiting for Logan to take it from his hand, and then he could hear the sounds again.

“I put an extra cup, the coffee is too hot, I chose the Cappuccino with extra strong for you.”

“What did you chose for yourself?” Scott asked.

“I made myself a mud coffee, since the professor is not having here a beer here.” Logan said with a smirk.

Scott smiled, he could use a beer to survive the day.

The professor took notes from the break, he wondered if anyone of them noticed, he turned his attention toward Hank who kept watching their vitals, both were calm and the heartbeats were normal.

“Break is over.” Hank peaked from the room as he only notified them.

Scott placed the almost empty cup on the table, he pulled out the cane and unfolded it, following Logan loud steps as a guide to the room.

“Mission two is for the sentinel,” Charles spoke through the radio and added, “Scott, you can’t interfere the mission.”

Scott sighed, he will lay low for a bit.

Scott could hear explosions, using only his hearing sense to locate the Sentinel as he found himself walking slowly with the cane, as he noticed that the hectic moves from the Sentinel stopped, and he seemed to be frozen in his spot, which alerts Scott.

The sentinel is having the worst of it with the mission and Scott is not the one to not interfere if that’s happening, and as guide, he is the only one that could get Logan from zoning out.

Scott remembered from the evaluation that Logan was in the army, which now he hoped that the professor got more knowledge about it

Scott moved his hand slowly toward Logan’s shoulder, as he assumed touching and then he said calmly, “You need to concentrate on my voice and heartbeat, Logan.”

“Listen to my heartbeat, you are not in war, Sentinel.” Scott continued calmly.

Scott could hear the change of movement from the Sentinel as he moved away from him, his hand barely touched Logan as the other almost attacked him, “Get away from me, you are a Sentinel killer.”

“You’ve been zone-out, my guess because of the explosions,” Scott told him calmly and then he added, “The professor seemed to know your weak spot, Sentinel.”

Logan only growled at him, he was looking forward if the Guide will fail, being blind and without his mutant power to defend himself.

Logan was in awe, as he noticed how the Guide folded his cane quickly and placed it inside his jacket and then was stand with defend mode.

What surprised Logan as he calmed down, the most of how the Guide is only standing next to him, not seem to matter about his own life, standing as a barrier between Logan and whatever mutant to fight them in the danger room.

“Is that what you want to check, Charles?” Hank asked after he viewed the scene, he could tell that Scott was hurt from Logan’s words, but show only professionalism.

“Among other things, besides, the evaluation is not over yet.” The professor said with a thin smile.
