The Ancients were assholes and only get worse after ascending. Weir is awful. And while Rodney was clear that Atlantis was a city and not a yo-yo, Janus’ time traveling jumper might be.

John Sheppard had been a part of some fucked up missions in the past and Rodney McKay had seen some seriously stupid shit at the SGC on both sides of a Gate. Being flung 10,000 years into the past wasn’t the best start for either of them, but neither was prepared to give up without one hell of a fight. Even if they had to fight time itself on an alien city entirely alone. But time - like progress - wasn’t linear, and science was often failure.
