Thanos' snap of his fingers had taken out half of all life everywhere and the center of his personal universe, so Tony had decided that he was hanging on just long enough to make sure that the Purple Fucker paid. It took longer than he wanted, but he held on.

So when he got the Infinity Stones in their gauntlet on his fist, he snapped his fingers for so many, many reasons. But the biggest reason of all was justice.
