Over and over he sees the city destroyed in his dreams, paroxysms of fire that took out the Gate first, so no-one could escape. Then the malfunctions start to happen, building up thick and fast, until Atlantis herself pulls John to the city’s control chair, so she can show him what’s broken and what he needs to do. It’s gonna be the hardest thing he’s ever done, but there’s no choice left now.
