Chris believed in the Somewhere Else. He’d never expected to need it, but he was relieved that the magic agreed to retrieve him before his grandparents could take him away to Texas. He knew Buck would look after his dad, and at least the magic would let him go back.
Eddie trusted the Somewhere Else. He was devastated that his own parents had pushed Chris to retreat there, but he was thankful all the same. Now, he just had to sort out this mess, including Ana, to bring Chris back home. At least he had Buck in his corner.
Buck knew the Somewhere Else. That didn’t mean he was qualified to resolve this whole situation, but he’d sure try his best for his favourite Diaz boys.

Author Notes
This story takes place in the aftermath of Eddie being shot by the sniper and he is in a coma for a short while. But this is really about the damage done by unhealthy and lack of parental love and how to heal from that.
And I’m throwing in a magical refuge that changes how the safety of children is defined and handled in this universe. It doesn’t make things perfect.
Lemme just set up camp here.
woo-hoo, this sounds intriguing!!
The “magical refuge” sounds *very* interesting…and I’m looking forward to seeing how it works…
